Art and Theory

Art and Theory is a publishing house dedicated to quality books on contemporary art, photography, and aesthetics. Our focus is on creating exceptional publi­cations that unify innovative and appealing book design with relevant and inspired texts.
Art and Theory books cover a variety of subjects in the field of contemporary art and theory, ranging from survey presentations, to theoretical treatise on aesthetics, from monographs of high-profile international contemporary artists, to themed collaborations with important art institutions.


Founded in Stockholm in 2011 by visual artists Klara Källström and Thobias Fäldt, together with designers 1:2:3, B-B-B-Books is a publishing platform that engages in methods of narration and visual culture. The project’s focus is on the production of knowledge, media issues, historical narratives, and the depiction and perception of political events.


GunGallery opened in May 2008 by Greger Ulf Nilson and Karolina Strömberg. The Stockholm-based GunGallery strives to be the most exciting and visited photo gallery in Sweden. GunGallery features photographers with different artistic directions; both documentary and conceptual works are to be seen in the various programme of the gallery. GunGallery curates eight exhibitions a year and participates actively in several art fairs.

Christian Larsen

Gallery Christian Larsen opened its doors in the heart of Stockholm in August 2007. This Scandinavian gallery represents a number of talented photographers, including Charlotte Gyllenhammar, Cooper & Gorfer, Joakim Eneroth, Viktor Rosdahl, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, and Mads Gamdrup. Varying in style, their photographs depict a dream-like, almost fantastical world, abstract and colorful, produced with a keen sense of vigor and innovation.

Founded by editor and designer Gösta Flemming, Journal is a Swedish publishing house specialising in photobooks. Since it was established in 1991, more than 100 titles have been released. Flemming is most well known for the work he has done with Scandinavian photographers such as JH Engström and Anders Petersen.

Grundemark Nilsson Gallery

Grundemark Nilsson Gallery was established 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden, and 2010 in Berlin, Germany. The private owned gallery represents an international diverse portfolio with a particular focus on the new generation of contemporary photo-based artists from Northern Europe, complemented by renowned masters such as Christer Strömholm and Dawid. Over the years we have established an international platform for our artists through regular gallery exhibitions documented in an annual catalogue. We are aiming to realise projects in and outside our galleries to promote our artists career.
